Transatlantic Cruises and Lawn Mowing January 21, 2013

Transatlantic Cruises and Lawn Mowing

January 21, 2013

Trying to put off the lawn mowing didn't work today;  I gave in and had the job done in 20 minutes.  This is not my photo, but it looks very similar to my little mower.

Something inspired me to make a nice pot roast and vegetable soup in my small crock pot/slow cooker this morning.  I can't explain why.   This must be how older people make decisions:   randomly and without a plan.

In any case, when the 6 hour timer sounded for the pot roast, it somehow gave me the push to go mow the lawn.  So, the lawn looks nice and the pot roast was delicious.

Now it's really time to color my hair so naturally I am researching transatlantic cruises to England instead.  I found a lovely cruise from New York to Southampton for less than $2000, on the Queen Mary 2, with a balcony.

Did I mention that I have a holiday from work today in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.?

"Nation to honor Martin Luther King Jr. as first black president is inaugurated to 2nd term"
"A quirk in the calendar pushed President Barack Obama's public swearing-in in Washington onto the national holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader." from newser.com today

On top of that national holiday, President Obama was inaugurated today.  This is a very historic day for America.

So I have spent all day watching "Rosemary and Thyme" on youtube.com.   How I love the BBC.

Soon it will be bird and squirrel feeding time.  I wonder if the squirrels will notice that their playground of wildflowers has disappeared?

Re-reading what I have just written, I am reminded that I am looking forward to the days of retirement.  Then I shall jump from one activity to another, just as I please, just like my squirrels.   What a fine life is ahead of me.
